Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers

We are delighted to announce that the Leeds based charity Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers (PAFRAS) have been awarded funds from the British Muslim COVID-19 Fund.
The funds will be contributing to providing asylum seekers with phone credit, to enable them to stay in touch with their loved ones, to provide some form of entertainment and to keep up to date with important advice around COVID-19.
All our clients are asylum seekers. Around half of which live on Asylum Support of £37.75 a week. The other half are refused asylum and are not in support. This is all the money they have for transport, food, toiletries, medicines, clothing, communications and leisure. Virtually no one we work with have a TV, and most use £5 a month paygo SIM cards with a 2GB data allowance. Most are used to using free wifi provided by Council hubs/ or stood outside cafes/businesses. They can no longer do so.
Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers have kindly prepared a press release.
